Summary

Through COVID – 19 and its devastating effects on the UK economy, we have found a number of people in the unfortunate positon of redundancy from their current roles and in need of support to find alternative employment opportunities. With many people finding themselves out of work, potentially longer than they would normally do so, the Government has allocated funding of £2.9 billion to launch and support the Restart Scheme as part of the overall “Plan for Jobs” initiative designed to protect, support and create jobs across the country.

As part of this project Futures Advice, Skills and Employment have been selected to work in partnership (through a sub contractual arrangement) to both Maximus and Jobs 22 to deliver this programme across the East Midlands where through regular contact with all participants, they will develop a strong understanding of individuals’ employment history, skills, aspirations and support needs to develop the right package of support to help each participant succeed.

To support this opportunity, Futures for Business, in conjunction with Futures for You and the Department for Work and Pensions will be holding a Sector Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) to successfully fill positions for the Employment Advisor vacancies.

As part of this SWAP opportunity, Futures for Business will be offering the residents of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands a chance to upskill themselves by completing a full-time three-week training course. Learners will gain an understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service and how to support clients in line with Futures values of Having Passion, Doing the Right Thing and Making a Difference. Through this course, not only will candidates have a chance to prepare themselves for the role, but also gain formal certificates in a range of qualifications

Throughout the training, all candidates will receive ongoing support with their application which will consist of:

  • Information, Advice and Guidance to review both their immediate goals with respect to the most suitable role for which to apply and exploring longer term options to develop a sustainable career
  • Work experience in the form of talks from experienced Futures staff members about what candidates can expect from the role as well as what it’s like to work within the company. All training will take place in company venue meaning learners become familiar with the culture and values of Futures as an organization.
  • Support with interview techniques to prepare them for their competency based interview.

The course itself will last for 13 days based over a 3-week period with training each day taking place between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30/16:00.

If successful at enrolment, candidates should be expected to complete ALL required days of training as failure to do so may lead to not having enough competency to achieve the qualifications and may lead to withdrawal from the course and opportunity for further support going forward for these roles.
