Overview

Based in the heart of Nottingham, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust provides services to over 2.5 million residents of Nottingham and its surrounding communities. They also provide specialist services for a further 3-4 million people from across the region.

With over 90 different wards and 1,700 beds, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust have a national and international reputation for many specialist services, including stroke, renal, neurosciences, cancer services and trauma. As a teaching trust they have a strong relationship with their colleagues at The University of Nottingham and other universities across the East Midlands, including Loughborough University, where they are part of the Olympic Legacy project.

Through these connections and themselves, they play a vital role in the education and training of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

With an ever growing need for healthcare within the city of Nottingham and the UK in general, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust are currently looking to recruit for a number of Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) to support the nursing teams in their day to day duties for which Futures for Business will support with.

Through Futures for Business, our training in Health and Social Care will help not only give candidates the basic understanding of what is required within the sector, but also develop the personal skills and attributes that ensure they are able to deliver a high level of service at all times.  With a supportive tutor on hand to guide you through the process, you will learn key topics required from the sector including (amongst others):

  • Communication in a care setting
  • Principles and Values in care
  • Service Provision and Roles

At the end of the course, all learners will gain fully accredited qualifications through City and Guilds:

  • Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings
  • Level 1 Certificate in Employability

 

Eligibility

In order to gain access to the following SWAP opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Are aged 19 years old or over (must have turned 19 by 31st August 2021)
  • Have lived in the UK or a European Economic Area (EEA) Member state for the last three years or more or be an  Individual or Asylum Seeker with certain types of immigration status*
  • Are actively seeking employment and claiming an unemployment benefit of either: Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance (WRAG) **
  • OR Must be earning under £17,374.50 annual gross salary and be able to commit to the course.
