Course duration: 18 days
Qualifications: City & Guilds Health, Social Care and children's and young people's setting Level 1

Through Futures for Business, our training in Health and Social Care will help not only give candidates the basic understanding of what is required within the sector, but also develop the personal skills and attributes that ensure they are able to deliver a high level of service at all times. With a supportive tutor on hand to guide you through the process, you will learn key topics required from the sector including (amongst others):

  • Communication in a care setting
  • Principles and Values in care
  • Service Provision and Roles

Upon successful completion of the training course all candidates will be offered a guaranteed interview for the role of a HCA within Nottingham University Hospital Trust. This could be based within various departments throughout the hospital, but will involve working with adults and not children.

In addition to this, all candidates will be invited to complete a covering statement as part of the course to show why they would like to work in the sector and what particular divisions of care they would like to work in.

Pre-Employment Coach

I work as part of a team who it’s fair to say, all love and enjoy our jobs. I love making teaching fun and engaging, encouraging Learners to embrace the challenges in education, inspiring them to reach their potential. Enthusiasm and laughter are key in a learning environment for me and each group takes something away with them as they grow in confidence and knowledge. I have worked as a Pre-Employment Vocational Coach for Futures for about 15 months, and in a similar teaching role for around 6 years. I currently teach Health and Social care and Employability, supporting people to gain qualifications in their chosen field of employment. When I am not at work I enjoy cooking both inside and out (BBQ), travelling around the UK in Monty our Motorhome and planning my next adventure whatever the weather.
