Summary

Based in the heart of Nottingham, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust provides services to over 2.5 million residents of Nottingham and its surrounding communities. They also provide specialist services for a further 3-4 million people from across the region.

With over 90 different wards and 1,700 beds, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust have a national and international reputation for many specialist services, including stroke, renal, neurosciences, cancer services and trauma. As a teaching trust they have a strong relationship with their colleagues at The University of Nottingham and other universities across the East Midlands, including Loughborough University, where they are part of the Olympic Legacy project.

Through these connections and themselves, they play a vital role in the education and training of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

With an ever growing need for healthcare within the city of Nottingham and the UK in general, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust are currently looking to recruit for a number of Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) to support the nursing teams in their day to day duties for which Futures for Business will support with.

Through Futures for Business, our training in Health and Social Care will help not only give candidates the basic understanding of what is required within the sector, but also develop the personal skills and attributes that ensure they are able to deliver a high level of service at all times.  With a supportive tutor on hand to guide you through the process, you will learn key topics required from the sector including (amongst others):

  • Communication in a care setting
  • Principles and Values in care
  • Service Provision and Roles

At the end of the course, all learners will gain fully accredited qualifications through City and Guilds:

  • Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings
  • Level 1 Certificate in Employability

These certificates can then be added to your CV and used to apply for further training and development employment opportunities.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, work experience for this opportunity will be in the form of a virtual workshop delivered by Nottingham University Hospitals whilst learners are completing their pre-employment training.

Upon successful completion of the training course all candidates will be offered a guaranteed interview for the role of a HCA within Nottingham University Hospital Trust. This could be based within various departments throughout the hospital, but will involve working with adults and not children.

In addition to this, all candidates will be invited to complete a covering statement as part of the course to show why they would like to work in the sector and what particular divisions of care they would like to work in. This information will be used by Nottingham Jobs to help identify the best opportunities possible if the candidate is unsuccessful in the pursuit of their opportunity to work for the Trust.

The course itself will last for 16 days based over a 4 week period with training each day taking place between the hours of 09:30 and 16:00.
